Dr. Amanda McElyea
Dr. Amanda McElyea is originally from Nashville, Tennessee and moved to Utah in 2019 following her husband, Dr. Nick Kirk's, pursuit of an avian (bird) specialty at Parrish Creek Veterinary Hospital. She graduated from The University of Tennessee at Martin in 2012 with a degree in Animal Science and The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. Since graduation she has worked as a general practitioner veterinarian with interests in radiology, dentistry, and soft tissue surgeries. Dr. McElyea and Dr. Kirk share their home with 2 dogs, a cat, an Amazon Parrot, and 6 rats, although she leaves the avian and exotic medicine to her husband.
Alyssa started her career as a medic in the U.S. Army. She discharged from active duty and moved to Utah to go back to school, earning her Master of Public Health and Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Utah. Even though she enjoyed her medical experience in the military, she never knew what she wanted to do as a career until she began volunteering with Best Friends and the Humane Society. Following her new passion, she transitioned to animal medicine working for a veterinary hospital in Park City as a technician and a receptionist. After gaining years of valuable experience, Alyssa joined Wilson’s team in 2019 as the Practice Manager. Her long-term goal is to become a veterinarian. She has 3 spoiled kitties at home named Cash, Leo, and Kita, and enjoys any time spent with her husband and son.
Lead Veterinary Technician
Jess began her veterinary career as a technician in an emergency hospital in Florida. She moved to Utah in 2007 where she gained 2 years of valuable emergency experience before joining Wilson Veterinary Hospital in 2009. Jess enjoys helping with surgery, making new bonds with pets and their families, and watching our pet patients grow up. She has her Bachelor's degree in Anthropology with an emphasis in health and is now finishing up the required prerequisites to apply to veterinary school. At home, she enjoys time with her two crazy nephews and taking care of 4 cats (Mister, Penelope, Bear, and Hercules), 1 dog (Chuck), and 4 ferrets (Charlie, Moose, Squirrel, and Kevin).
Tris began working for us in 2011 as a Kennel Technician and quickly moved up to Veterinary Technician. Prior to this, she was CNA and Phlebotomy certified but decided that she would much rather work with animals. She loves watching our long-term patients grow up and getting lots of snuggles from all of our furry patients. Tris has one dog named Toby (a Boxer - her favorite!) and two cats named Eden and Grimm. Her favorite thing in life is being a mom and hanging with her family. Her co-workers enjoy her awesome personality and sense of humor!
Sarah joined our team in 2021 and came to us from another practice in Park City. She gained 2 years of experience there as a veterinary technician and is currently enrolled in a veterinary technician Associate Degree program. Sarah enjoys seeing all of the unique personalities of our awesome patients and enjoys the satisfaction of being there for animals through the best and worst of times. At home, she has two rescue dogs - a Pug named Roxy and a Border Collie/German Shepherd mix named Otto. During the winter, she enjoys camping with Otto since he is a fan of the snow. Roxy would rather be home under blankets! Some of Sarah's other favorite activities are hiking/backpacking, horseback riding, and traveling.
Trissy began working at our hospital in 2020 and has a long history of experience working at a diverse range of animal settings within the Salt Lake Valley, including Petsmart, the Humane Society, an emergency hospital, and specialty clinics. Her favorite thing about the veterinary field other than working with animals is that there is always something new to learn and she strives to learn all she can to improve quality of life of our furry patients. She earned her Associate degree while raising two beautiful daughters and enjoys time at home with her pets. She has 2 dogs – a Great Pyrenees named Bear and a Shih Tzu named Wicket. She also has 4 cats named Falcor, Dina, Binx, and Mouse.
Lindsey has been working with us since 2011 and had previous experience working at an animal shelter. Her favorite thing about working at Wilson is seeing all of the different animals every day. She enjoys time with her Lab/Dane mix named Carson in the rare event that she is not working!

We are very excited to have Luna join our team as our newest receptionist! She previously worked as a dog trainer at K9 Lifeline and completed an internship at Protection K9's. With her previous employment, she earned her certification in IGP/Schutzhund training. Luna finds it very rewarding to build trust and bonds with patients and clients. In her free time, she loves music (playing guitar and singing), cooking, hiking, and training her dogs. She has two dogs at home named Stevie Ray and Millie, and a bearded dragon lizard named Juno. Wilson Vet enjoys Luna's fun personality and sense of humor!
